Victorian Relay Championships – A fun day out

Each year, the Victorian Club Relay Championships is a chance for club members to run in a relay team with other club members and compete against other clubs.

This year the event is on April 7th, close to Bendigo (Eppalock). Bendigo Orienteers pays the entry fee for Bendigo club teams.

We usually have a lot of teams. If you are new to orienteering, not to worry, we aren’t playing for “sheep stations” and it is a good chance to get to know other orienteers.

Details are on the attached flier (right-click to download).

If you would like to enter, contact Darren Eenjes via email letting him know which course you would like to run by 25th March.

AGM Notification

Bendigo Orienteers will have its final event for the year on Saturday 25 November, at the South Mandurang recreation reserve, commencing at 12:30pm.

There will be a fun short orienteering event followed by our Annual General Meeting and trophy presentations, with a shared social BBQ lunch.
Meat, vege burgers and drinks (non alcoholic) will be provided by the club. Please bring either a salad or dessert to share.

Club members are asked to consider nominating for a position on the committee to help guide the club over the next 12 months.

Thank You

Bendigo Orienteers has applied for, and received, funding from Orienteering Victoria to reimburse trophy engraving and medals for the 2016 end-of-year presentations, and Parks Victoria permit fees for 2017.

We would like to thank OV for their contribution.

Membership Fees

Orienteering Victoria has raised their membership fees by $5/year for each member aged 12 and over. This was by agreement with the clubs in return for keeping the levies at the same level for 2017. You also get the Australian Orienteer magazine thrown in (which was optional for 2016).

Bendigo Orienteers membership fee will be $50/year per senior member and $7 per junior member (under 21)

This will be formally ratified at the AGM in February, and fees are not due until our O season starts in February. But for those who wish to get in early, Eventor is open for business: https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/MyPages/Memberships

Jim’s Golden Leg Goes Global!

The Golden Leg award was last week awarded to Jim for his 47th control at the Kooyoora ultra-long event earlier this year. Makes me glad I’m not an M21!

World of O picked up the story (aided, perhaps, by a little birdie bardie), and did an analysis on it. Read the full article here: http://news.worldofo.com/2014/12/15/route-to-christmas-day-15-2014/.
