Included herein are details of the two CATI\u2019s for the 28 Feb and 7 March. Note that these are two separate events in the same location and with the same format, on separate Saturdays.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Course setters and Helpers <\/span><\/strong>Thank you to Richard, Ben and Don for offering to organise and set the Newcomers weekend. Ben and Don are new course setters, we look forward to there event. Also Nigel and Craig have offered to set the Vic Champs, thanks Boys.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">We still need Course setters and Organisers for our Bush series, please check <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/10LGs7s11OWunK7ssyaWwKAuNulJ3QHO4luDAqrYiTqI\/edit#gid=0\">the Calendar <\/a><\/span>Earliest event needing help, is the Last Weekend in March, will be upon us soon, so please consider<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Membership<\/span><\/strong>. Would everyone please ensure that they renew their membership before the start of the Bush Classic season (Saturday 14 March, Diamond Hill North\u2013 details in the Bulletin of 11 March). This will make it easier on the event organisers and on your pocket (cheaper entry fee!).<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Star(s)<\/span><\/strong>. I hope everyone caught up with the great feature in the Addie on Friday 20 February. Raelee gave us a really good write up with great pictures of Lachlan Feuerherdt \u2013 and of course, his Dad. Lachlan won both the Sprint and Middle Distance races in the Oceania Championships in Tasmania last month. Oh yes, and his Dad took out second in the middle and long distance and third in the sprint. Well done to both!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Newcomer\u2019s Events<\/span><\/strong>: Saturday 28 February and Saturday 7 March. 2015<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Both days are starting from the same area and at the same times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The primary purpose of these events is for introducing newcomers to bush orienteering.<\/p>\n<p>Two courses will be available for beginners to try, also with an additional small \u201cmodel map area\u201d set up for map feature familiarisation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Start times<\/span><\/strong> available anytime between 9:00am to 1:00pm. Courses close at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Directions<\/span><\/strong>: From Bendigo turn right at the main traffic lights in Kangaroo Flat and travel 5km out the Maryborough Rd toward Lockwood. Look for orienteering signs on the right after the sweeping right-hand bend.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\">What to bring<\/span>: Sturdy footwear for running or walking in the forest off track. Water, hat, sunscreen, and a couple of friends!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Note<\/span>: Map, compass and timing device supplied \u2013 newcomers FREE ENTRY<\/p>\n<p>Bendigo Orienteers club members will be available to assist newcomers as required.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Pre-Season Training Options<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p>Running in parallel with the newcomer\u2019s event, several options will be available for juniors and experienced orienteers to get in some pre-season training.<\/p>\n<p>Training exercises will be an enjoyable challenge for even the most experienced navigators. You may also like to design your own course\/activity from the available controls.<\/p>\n<p>1) Keyhole exercise with short, medium, and long distance variants (moderate to hard challenge).<\/p>\n<p>2) Corridor course, medium and long variants (moderate\/hard challenge).<\/p>\n<p>3) Use an all controls map and run as a 1\/hr. scatter O score event.<\/p>\n<p>4) You can also design your own course to your preferred length, selecting from any of the controls available.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Note<\/span><\/strong>: Start times as above, $5:00<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Public transport available<\/span> to Kangaroo Flat train station, travel from station to start area approx. 6km, pick-up and drop-off arrangements also available.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\">Coming Events.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>February 28 and March 7th.
